Will you help us prepare our puppies for a noble future as a guide dog?

Will you become our next volunteer puppy raiser?

Our incredible guide dogs start out as puppies, and at nine weeks we send them home with volunteer puppy raisers. These caring volunteers give our puppies a healthy start to socialization, until they return for formal training.

We need dog-loving, committed people to open their hearts and homes to
our puppies, and we’ll help you at every step. We’ll provide you with training, veterinary care, and twice-a-month puppy raiser meetings for support. Most
of our puppy raisers volunteer over and over again, sharing hearts and
homes with our puppies.

Southeastern Guide Dogs: A Greater Sense Of… (by SEGuideDogs)

This is why I am heavily involved in this organization. They are non-profit and can only do what they do from the donations of their supporters. Please help me spread the word so they can continue to help change lives.

The Walkathon is their biggest fundraising event of the year and next year will be the first time that it will be hosted in Tampa FL.

Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and has provided guide dogs to people with visual impairments for more than 30 years (since 1982).

Students accepted into the program spend approximately four weeks bonding and training with their new guide dog under the watchful eye of our certified instructors at a student-to-trainer ratio of 3 to 1. A bond of love, trust and devotion forms between the blind master and the dog as they become a team.

They provide the guide dog, equipment, single-room lodging, all meals, outings, instruction and post-graduation support completely free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our important contributors.

The average working life of a guide dog is eight years, and the majority of our graduates obtain multiple guide dogs from Southeastern Guide Dogs.

The process of developing and serving a successful guide dog team takes an average of ten years (two years of training and eight years of post-graduation services) and approximately $60,000.

The students pay absolutely nothing for their dog, their stay, or meals.

Southeastern Guide Dogs runs solely on the generous donation from their supporters and I am currently fundraising for their 2014 Tampa Walkathon event. Every little bit helps! :)

Hello EveryDoggie

I’ve been neglecting my blogging for a while, it’s been really hard getting into the swing of things with school, a baby, volunteer work and the fact that there are only 24 hours in a day. I will be posting weekly every Friday. In the meantime, Keep Calm and Love Your Pet! :)

For the 2nd year in a row, the ARL will be fulfilling the childhood dream or wish of finding a puppy or kitten under the Christmas tree!  Adopt a pet between December 16-23 and, for an additional $25, your new family member will be delivered to your home on Christmas morning! Given people’s lifestyles, Christmas is one of the few times of the year that folks can take off to really bond with a new family member. The ARL will test all eligible animals to assure they are good with children and folks must still complete our regular adoption process. For more information, contact our Adoption Dept. at ghoffmann@animalrescue.org or call 412-345-7300.

Aww, Thanks so much! When I started this blog I was honestly disgusted by all the cruelty cases and my hatred for humanity was rising but now this blog has gotten me in touch with so many wonderful people and rescues that are compassionate and kind towards people and animals, I am very grateful for that. It has shown me that there are lots of strangers in the world whom I have never met , but yet, I love. Animal lovers are really the best kinds of people! :) <3

SIKESTON, MO — Animal control officers went house to house confiscating pitbulls and anything that resembled a pitbull. The family pets were taken to shelters
and many risk immediate euthanasia. Owners were not given trials, court appearances, or any form of due process. They were not compensated for their stolen property. They were simply robbed of their cherished family members, many of whom will now be killed by the state. Some of the victims mention how they tried to be law abiding citizens, and yet they were still punished. They complied with all the onerous Dog Control laws, such as dog registration, extra insurance mandates, putting up signs, and so on. Yet in the end, it was their compliance with Dog Control laws that ultimately led to the government coming to their doorstep to confiscate their property. When Dogs are outlawed, only outlaws will have Dogs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bo76_qbYJ0

Rook loves all other dogs, does GREAT with cats and is completely mobile– to the point where he doesn’t really miss his leg. If you’ve never owned a 3-legged dog, it’s something that should be on your bucket list. Other than being very unique and having a great story, 3-legged dogs are good luck charms and an absolute HIT with the

Bonnie

She DOES NOT possess any of the negative “pit bull traits” that folks are so afraid of, instead, she is very mellow as well as incredibly affectionate. She loves to play fetch, hike, run, and ride hooked up to the bicycle. Trust me when I say that she is a doll and a complete joy to be around. To be honest, I think she would do best with a family with kids.

Pit bull left to “babysit” 10-month-old child

The pitbull definitely acted as a more attentive caregiver than the father by staying near the crying infants door for hours.

"A 41-year-old northeast Florida man faces child neglect charges after he allegedly left an infant in the care of a pit bull while he went out to drink Friday night.

According to the News-Journal, citing a Flagler County sheriff’s report, Irvine told her that he had not “left the baby alone,” because the “pit bull was watching the baby.”

The dog was sitting outside the room where the child was left. The door was shut, and the child was allegedly crying, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.”
